Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Projects implemented in stages in Uzbekistan together with the Asian Development Bank testify to the consistency of development of cooperation. ADB’s financial and technical assistance is fully consistent with the country’s national development strategy, reflecting Uzbekistan’s development priorities.
Given the current situation in the global economy with the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic and the need to introduce quarantine measures to contain it, which negatively affects our economy, Uzbekistan’s cooperation with ADB has strengthened, as a result, work is underway to attract bank investments in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus and mitigate its impact on the country’s economy.
It is necessary to note the invaluable contribution of ADB in providing international consultants for technical assistance to the ministry, in particular for the development of the Concept of socio-economic development of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030 and the Concept for the development of industry in Uzbekistan until 2030.
Negotiations with representatives of the ADB in the format of the videoconference were held several times for a more effective implementation of the tasks assigned to the ministry, taking into account world experience. As a result, an agreement was reached on attracting international consultants as technical assistance, a term of reference for hiring international consultants was developed, the main directions that need to be reflected in the Concept of socio-economic development of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030, as well as in the Concept for the development of industry of Uzbekistan until 2030 were discussed. of the year.
Cooperation of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade with ADB covers the following issues:
- examples of successful practices of foreign countries in the implementation of industrial policy;
- methodological approaches to the development of measures for the development of the "economy of simple things";
- foreign experience in the creation and functioning of financial and industrial groups;
- long-term external and internal risks for the national industry;
- approaches for the transition to a higher technological order (Industry 4.0);
- assistance in the diagnosis of labor productivity levels in the sectors of the economy;
- international experience in reforming state enterprises;
- assistance in the development of the Concept of economic management from the point of view of liberal, administrative and mixed management;
- assistance in assessing the socio-economic impact of COVID-19 on the economy of Uzbekistan and developing ways to overcome the negative impact of the pandemic, taking into account international experience.
In general, the prospects for mutually beneficial relations between the Ministry and the Asian Development Bank make it possible to develop and implement new joint projects.
