Presidential Special Representative for Afghanistan meets with Turkish Ambassador

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 July 2020, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey Mehmet Sureyya Er.
During the conversation, regional security issues were discussed, in particular, the current situation around Afghanistan, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.
The importance of launching the peace negotiation process, as well as the role of the Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan, the forum “Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process” and others in the settlement of the Afghan problem and the restoration of the social and economic infrastructure of the IRA in the interests of the entire Afghan people, were noted.
The Turkish side was informed about the measures taken by Uzbekistan to facilitate the launch of the peaceful political process, as well as ongoing transport and communication projects in the IRA.
The parties also discussed the issue of cooperation to support Afghanistan in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
An agreement was reached to continue close bilateral cooperation in the Afghan direction, in particular in questions of finding optimal ways for a peaceful resolution of the crisis in this country.
