Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 31 March 2020, negotiations were held with the Deputy Minister of Trade of Turkey, Gonca Yilmaz Batur, via video conferencing.
The subject of discussion was joint measures to mitigate the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic and global crisis on the sectors of the economies of both countries.
The negotiations also discussed the prospects for expanding investment and trade and economic cooperation by intensifying the negotiation processes in a number of priority areas identified earlier during the 1st meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in February this year in Ankara.
In this context, the need to accelerate the conclusion of the Agreement on preferential trade between Uzbekistan and Turkey was voiced and discussed.
Separately, issues of strengthening interaction in the field of logistics and optimization of the tariff regulation system on a reciprocal basis were addressed.
As a result of negotiations, an agreement was reached to continue consultations through the videoconferencing system on a regular basis in order to discuss further steps to accelerate the implementation of joint projects and activities with the Republic of Turkey.
