Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A delegation of the Uzatom Agency is on a working visit to India to study the country’s experience in the construction and operation of nuclear power plants, and to conduct negotiations with relevant ministries and departments to establish cooperation in the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
This visit began with a meeting with the Secretary of the Atomic Energy Department, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of the Government of India, Sri Vias. During the talks, the Indian side noted the interest in establishing a mutually beneficial partnership with Uzbekistan in the use of peaceful atom in various fields.
Further, meetings were held with the leaders and representatives of the relevant structures of the Department of Atomic Energy under the Government of India, where they discussed in detail the development of cooperation in a number of areas, in particular, in training personnel, providing consulting services in the design and construction of nuclear power plants in Uzbekistan, the development of nuclear medicine and other areas. The Indian side emphasized the great interest in participating in the development of the national nuclear infrastructure of the Republic of Uzbekistan and assured of the full support of Uzbekistan, which is a long-standing partner of India.
A meeting was also held with the national operator of all Indian nuclear power plants - the Nuclear Energy Corporation of India, where the general approach of this country to the formation and implementation of the nuclear program was presented.
The visit of the Uzbek delegation continues, the program also includes visits to the Kudankulam nuclear power plant and meetings with relevant departments and companies.
