Subsidies to be allocated to organization of sericulture and mulberry plantations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) –– The President’s resolution “On additional measures for the Development of the Feed Base of the Silkworm in the Silk-Breeding Area” was adopted.
In accordance with the resolution, the land areas allocated for the creation of new mulberry plantations in 2020 were determined.
In particular, in the first quarter of 2020, 4,985 hectares of land will be allocated for new mulberry plantations throughout the republic.
The resolution approved the forecast parameters for the creation in 2020–2024 of mulberry plantations on agricultural lands and around land reclamation facilities intended to increase their productivity in order to protect against wind and water erosion.
According to this, the volume of creation of protective mulberry plantations in these years will be more than 12 thousand hectares.
Also, the main targets for the cultivation of silkworms and the cultivation of live silkworm cocoons in 2020–2025 have been approved.
According to this, in the current year, a total of 21 thousand tons of silkworms are expected to be produced throughout the republic.
Starting from 1 February 2020, subsidies will be issued to:
- cover part of the costs of introducing a drip irrigation system on mulberry plantations to silkworm and mulberry organizations in the amount of up to 8 million soums for each hectare of newly created mulberry plantations with the introduction of a drip irrigation system;
- construction of a borehole for water withdrawal on mulberry plantations with an area of more than 35 hectares, as well as a pumping station for pumping water from rivers, canals and other reservoirs in the amount of up to 120 million soums.
In addition, mulberry plantations from 1 to 3 hectares belonging to the territorial “Agropilla” of the Association “Uzbekipaksanoat” are distributed as an experiment to the population on the basis of a family contract.
