Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The next expanded meeting of the Central Election Commission was held.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission M. Abdusalamov emphasized that the preparations for the 22 December elections are continuing confidently in accordance with the "Program of basic measures for preparing for the election of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, regional, district and city Kengashes of people's deputies."
During the meeting, issues of registration of candidates for deputies to the Legislative Chamber, as well as the fulfillment of the tasks defined in the decision of the Central Election Commission "On the organization and conduct of the month of propaganda of electoral legislation in the Republic of Uzbekistan" from 11 October 2019 were considered.
All five political parties admitted to participate in the election of deputies to the Legislative Chamber held their congresses within the time period specified by law.
During these events, candidates for deputies were presented. After that, the leaders of political parties requested the CEC to register the submitted candidates for deputies. The experts of the Central Election Commission, within the time periods specified by the election code, carefully checked the submitted documents for their compliance with legislative norms.
It was noted that the representation of candidates for deputies by political parties was held in strict accordance with the requirements of the law, openly, transparently.
According to the results of the audit, the Central Election Commission, in accordance with Article 14 of the Electoral Code, decided to register candidates for deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Business People - the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Adolat, the Democratic Party Uzbekistan “Milliy Tiklanish”, People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and Ecological Party of Uzbekistan.
All 750 registered candidates have higher education. Of these, 310, that is, 41.3 percent are women. Compared to the 2014 elections, this is almost 10 percent more. Number of lawyers is 6.9 percent, economists - 19.1 percent, and doctors - 12.4 percent. For the deputy mandate will be fighting 22 doctors of sciences, 52 candidates of sciences. The list of registered candidates will be published in print.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that after the registration, the next important process begins - election campaigning.
During the meeting, the Minister of Justice R. Davletov’s information on the work done as part of the month of propaganda of the electoral law was also heard.
