Business forum under the project of UNDP / GEF and Ministry of construction takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The United Nations Development Program and the Global Environment Facility in cooperation with the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Uzbekistan have been implementing the six-year project "Assistance in the development of construction of energy-efficient rural housing in Uzbekistan".
The main goal of the project is to provide improved accessible and environmentally friendly living conditions the rural population of Uzbekistan. A one-day business forum “Energy-efficient solutions in Uzbekistan: current status and development prospects”, dedicated to energy-efficient (EE) and low-carbon (LC) solutions applicable in the building sector has been held under the project. The event demonstrated available EE and LC solutions on the market (projects, building materials, regulatory documents, equipment, financial mechanisms, etc.).
The event has pursued the following objectives:
Since its launch, the project has been able to achieve high results and raise the importance of energy efficiency in the housing sector to the proper level. To date, 22 energy-efficient house designs have been developed. As a result, the massive construction of energy-efficient housing (15,010 units) was included in the State program for the construction of affordable rural housing.
About 150 representatives of various ministries, government departments and organizations attended the business forum: Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Economy and Industry, Ministry of Innovative Development, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Regional Khokimiats, design institute Qishloq Qurilish Loyiha, engineering company Qishloq Qurilish Invest, JSC Qishloq Qurilish Bank and other banks, domestic manufacturers/suppliers of EE and LC technologies, Design Institutions, Construction companies, Asian Development Bank, World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, French Development Agency, NGOs, UNDP Projects in Uzbekistan.
The business forum was held in two stages: the first stage was a plenary meeting, and the second - thematic breakout sessions. The plenary session was held in the conference hall for all participants. Breakout sessions covered several thematical areas: green mortgage, EE and LC technology supply chain development, building regulations and house designs and territorial development of urban and rural settlements.
In addition, participants were able to get acquainted with the stands for the mini-exhibition of EE and LC technologies and building materials of domestic manufacturers during the forum.
