Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Following the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute of Legislation and Parliamentary Studies under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Analytical Legal Department of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, a meeting of the chairmen of the chambers of the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Russia Tanzili Narbaeva and Valentina Matvienko with media representatives was held.
It was noted that the official visit of the Russian parliamentary delegation was seen as an important step towards further enhancing relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation.
During the meeting of the leaders of the upper houses of the parliaments of the two countries, the whole range of issues for further deepening bilateral cooperation was discussed in detail. Particular attention was paid to further intensification of inter-parliamentary dialogue.
It was emphasized that over the past two years, thanks to the political will and determination of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, a new stage has been reached in the development of the Uzbek-Russian strategic and allied partnership.
The intensity of bilateral political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations is growing steadily. This is fully in the interests of the two states. The updated look of the dialogue at the highest level set a confidence tone, gave a powerful impetus to almost all areas of bilateral interaction. Further building up multifaceted cooperation between the two countries is an important priority area of the foreign policy of Uzbekistan and Russia.
During the talks, the proximity and coincidence of positions and assessments of the state and prospects of interaction between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Russia were confirmed, and the level of inter-parliamentary relations, including the activities of the inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, was highly appreciated.
It was noted that it was agreed that the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Russia will intensify their work on cooperation within the framework of international and regional parliamentary organizations, such as the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Particular attention was paid to the development of relations between the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia with the assistance of the upper houses of the parliaments of the two countries. In this context, fruitful work is underway to prepare for the second Uzbek-Russian interregional forum to be held in Russia.
