Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, USAID Administrator discuss the implementation of joint projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 19 July 2019 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who is in the United States, met with the administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mark Green.
A substantive conversation on promising areas for the implementation of joint projects took place at the talks, and the priorities of fruitful cooperation with the Agency in the context of the growing multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States were discussed.
Mark Green reaffirmed the Agency’s readiness to fully cooperate with Uzbekistan and support comprehensive reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Particular attention is paid to the prospects for the establishment and development of trade, economic and investment and technological relations between countries. It was emphasized that investment in education will give the greatest return.
“By investing in the field of education, you are sowing the seeds of the future, because without a decent education you can hardly withstand the increasingly fierce competition all over the world,” said the USAID administrator.
The head of the Agency received detailed information on the key provisions of the 5-year Development Strategy of Uzbekistan, the results of the negotiations of the delegation in a number of government agencies of the United States.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on a dynamic increase of contacts between Uzbekistan and the USAID headquarters in Washington at various levels.
