Dilshod Akhatov meets with the Chairman of the Committee for Economic Cooperation and Development of the German Bundestag
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 June 2019, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov met with the Chairman of the Committee for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany Peter Ramsauer, who is in our country on a visit.
The parties discussed the prospects for deepening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany in the context of the implementation of the agreements reached during the Uzbek-German summit talks in January and May of this year, respectively, in Berlin and Tashkent.
The parties stated their mutual interest in strengthening multidimensional relations, in which inter-parliamentary ties occupy an important place, the activities of the deputy groups of the Bundestag “Germany-Central Asia” and the Oliy Majlis in cooperation with the Bundestag.
The sides noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of cooperation in the economic sphere. According to the results of the next intergovernmental negotiations on financial and technical cooperation, held on 21-22 May in Tashkent, agreements were reached on allocating 123.8 million euros in preferential loans and grants to Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, appreciation was expressed to the German side for supporting the efforts of our country to eliminate the negative consequences of the environmental disaster - the drying up of the Aral Sea.
The conversation also addressed issues of deepening cooperation in the cultural, humanitarian, scientific and educational fields.
Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Gunter Overfeld took part in the negotiations.
