Uzbek, Russian health minister discuss expanding cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 March, a delegation of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation arrived in Uzbekistan, which is the result of fruitful cooperation between the two countries, carried out under the leadership of the heads of state.
A meeting of the leadership of the ministry with members of the delegation was held at the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan. The Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, Alisher Shadmanov, and the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Veronika Skvortsova, discussed the progress of cooperation in the development of medicine and education, new projects in this direction. This is the department of public relations of the Ministry of Health.
The Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Alisher Shadmanov said that today in Uzbekistan the improvement of health care is one of the priority directions of state policy and over the past two years significant changes have occurred in this area. By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Comprehensive Measures for the Radical Improvement of the Health System of the Republic of Uzbekistan” dated 7 December 2018, the Concept of the Development of the Health System of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019-2025 was approved. It was developed on the basis of in-depth analysis of the situation in the health sector in the country, studying the experience in this area of over 20 developed countries.
Mr. Shadmanov also noted that the signing of a number of documents between the ministries as part of the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Russian Federation at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin clearly indicated areas for further cooperation in the development of health, science and education. Since then, good cooperation indicators have been achieved in the field of personnel retraining. Thus, in recent years, more than 600 of our specialists have undergone internship in Russia, 300 specialists from the Russian Federation have visited Uzbekistan to conduct master classes, demonstration lectures and operations.
Active cooperation is conducted between specialized medical centers and universities. Thus, agreements have been concluded on the organization of joint international faculties, educational programs in bachelor’s, master’s and clinical residency. From 2019/2020 academic year, it is planned to open in Uzbekistan a branch of the First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov.
And also from the 2019-2020 academic year, a joint international faculty will be created between the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University and the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute in the areas of education “Pediatric Medicine” and “General Medicine”. Since September 2019, it is planned to open a joint faculty with the Russian University of Peoples’ Friendship and the Tashkent State Dental Institute in the direction of "Dermatovenereology" for training clinical residents. And also, a joint faculty will be created with the Orenburg State Medical University and the Tashkent State Dental Institute in the direction of General Medicine and Clinical Psychology.
Together with the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University and the Nukus branch of the TashPMI, an international faculty will be created in six areas of clinical residency: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric Surgery, Traumatology, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Oncology
Skvortsova was interested in learning about the transformations in the field of health care in Uzbekistan, in particular, about the mechanism for introducing compulsory health insurance, reaching high-quality medical services for vulnerable groups of the population, as well as for children and people of retirement age, transition to the system of financing medical organizations for clinical cost groups and per capita financing.
The guest expressed her readiness to share experiences and assist in the implementation of these works, the implementation of joint projects to improve health care and medical education.
Members of the delegation will also visit the republican specialized scientific and practical medical centers, private clinics, institutions providing primary medical care, medical higher educational institutions.
