Police of Tashkent starts to notify citizens about readiness of biometric passports via SMS-messages

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Department of Migration and Registration of Citizenship of Tashkent police started to notify citizens about readiness of biometric passports via SMS-messages.
The SMS messages will be sent to phone of number of citizens if they fail to pick up call. Department said it has no obligation to send SMS notification to absolutely all applicants.
On 12-13 February, 1,666 biometric passports were prepared, but Tashkent police officers could reach only 1,568 citizens. Police send SMS messages to 98 citizens.
Uzbekistan abolished travel stickers from 1 January 2019 and introduced biometric passports of citizens of Uzbekistan to travel abroad.
Passports for traveling abroad issued from 2 to 10 years based on the age of the citizen. Current biometric passports with stickers will be valid till 2021.
