The Code of Professional Ethics of Journalists to be adopted

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Code of Professional Ethics for Journalists is being developed with the aim of providing the population with impartial and reliable information. Also, journalists are obliged in the preparation of information to be guided by the principles of objectivity, taking into account the diversity of opinions. This was reported by the press service of the Agency of Information and Mass Communications.
The adopted norms are method of self-government of the media, and no state or judicial bodies have the right to interfere in their implementation.
The code will also provide for the responsibility of journalists for providing poor quality or knowingly incorrect information.
One of the main principles of the Code will be the establishment of professional responsibility of journalists, the protection of their rights, fair competition and collegial solidarity.
Journalists, who violate the principles and norms of the Code of Professional Ethics, are responsible in the manner prescribed by the Code.
A code of journalistic ethics will be developed in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UN General Assembly, 1984), the International Principles of Professional Ethics in Journalism (UNESCO, 1983), the Declaration of Principles of Journalist Conduct (International Federation of Journalists, World Congress, 1954).) as well as provisions of the Constitution and legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
