Customs officers prevent attempt to smuggle a large consignment of cigarettes
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At a joint operational event conducted by customs officers of Ferghana region and the Committee for Protection of the State Border of the Republic of Uzbekistan, an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of cigarettes was suppressed, the press service of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said in a statement.
On the border territory of Rishton of Ferghana region, customs officers turned their attention to a suspicious citizen SM, who carried several plastic bags with him. After that, with the participation of attesting witnesses, bags were searched for their contents.
As a result of the inspection, it turned out that there were tobacco products in the amount of 4,860 boxes in the bags, for a total of just over 50 million soums. The man could not provide any documents to the found cigarettes.
A little later, a citizen admitted that all goods were intended for resale within the country.
Currently, according to the revealed fact, customs checks are being carried out.
