Uzbek citizen awarded for rescue of 8 people in Magnitogorsk

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 5 February 2019, the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Yekaterinburg (Russia) held a meeting with a citizen of Uzbekistan Olamafruz Abdullayev, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
A native of Surkhandarya region was one of the first to hurry to help people after the explosion in a residential building in Magnitogorsk on 31 December 2019. He managed to save eight people from the wreckage before the rescuers arrived.
His disinterested and heroic act was widely reported in the Russian press, which emphasized the courage and indifference to the grief of others, our compatriot.
Our fellow citizens, temporarily staying in Russia, including students of higher educational institutions, as well as the head of the Uzbek diaspora in Sverdlovsk region Zakir Allabergenov were also invited to the meeting in the Consulate General.
At the end of the meeting, Olamafruz Abdullayev, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was presented with a valuable gift and diploma of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Yekaterinburg. Uzbekistan Airways has allocated a free ticket for the Yekaterinburg – Tashkent flight for 7 February.
On 6 February 2019, the Governor of Chelyabinsk Region (Russia), Boris Dubrovsky, and the Commissioner for Human Rights in the region, Margarita Pavlova, in a solemn ceremony, presented the medal “Hurry to do good” to the citizen of Uzbekistan Olamafruz Abdullayev.
