Economic Council formed in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Economic Council on implementation of the road map for reforms of Uzbekistan for 2019-2021 has been formed in Uzbekistan.
The Council was established by the decree of the President of Uzbekistan “On additional measures to ensure the further development of the economy and increase the effectiveness of economic policy”.
The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov headed the Economic Council. The council also includes Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov, First Deputy Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan Bekzot Mavlonov, Deputy Advisers to the President Galina Saidova and Elyor Ganiyev, Director of the National Agency for Project Management Dmitry Li, Chairman of the Central Bank Mamariso Nurmuratov, Business Ombudsman Dilmurod Kasimov , Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Adham Ikramov and First Deputy Minister of Finance Ahadbek Haydarov.
The Council will analyze and identify problems and risks that impede the implementation of socio-economic reforms, the preparation of proposals for changes in the socio-economic sphere;
The Council will discuss the draft regulations developed during the implementation of the road map, as well as coordinate the activities of the responsible ministries and departments, as well as conduct system monitoring and control over the implementation of the road map.
The document says that the council should prepare strategies for reforming enterprises with a state share (until June 1), developing a national digital economy (Digital Uzbekistan 2030, until December 1), developing education (until March 1, 2020), and developing the water management sector and irrigation (until September 1, 2020).
Until April 1, the Council will work out a concept for the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan until 2030 and until October 1, a concept for the development of agriculture. Until October 1, the concept of strengthening monetary policy and ensuring price stability will be developed, and until January 1, 2020, a concept of reforming the state pension system.
Until June 1, 2020, it is planned to develop a concept for the further development of the financial sector.
The Economic Council will also develop a roadmap for improving the investment climate (until April 1). Till November 1, a “road map” on increasing flexibility and transparency in land use will be developed, and until September 1, 2020, a “road map” on environmental protection will be developed.
An International Expert Group will be formed at the Economic Council from among foreign experts involved in the elaboration of the Roadmap events.
