Uzbekistan becomes the first donor to contribute to the newly created UNESCO fund
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan has become the first donor to contribute to the “UNESCO Special Account for Untargeted Voluntary Contributions to Support the Approved UNESCO Program and Budget (C/5)” in the amount of US$120,000.
The advantage of this mechanism is that it allows UNESCO to achieve greater effect by providing the Secretariat with the flexibility to channel funds to under-funded program areas and respond to emerging needs.
On the eve of the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to UNESCO, the corresponding agreement was signed on 5 October 2018 between the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to UNESCO and Jean-Yves Le Só - Director of the Bureau of Strategic Planning.
He stressed that UNESCO is very grateful to Uzbekistan for its valuable support and trust, as well as for the fact that Uzbekistan has become an example as the first contributor to the created fund.
