Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 11 to 13 and from 17 to 19 July 2018, three-day training seminars “Crafting skills and entrepreneurship development among women in rural areas” are held in Muinak and Takhtakupyr districts of Karakalpakstan.
Empowering women, involving them in active participation in the economic life of the region, is an indispensable factor for achieving the internationally agreed development goals and improving the welfare of the local population. Prospective opportunities in this direction are opened by the traditional school of handicrafts - an excellent segment for starting an entrepreneurial activity in the region, where more and more opportunities are created for the preservation of cultural heritage and the development of tourism.
In this way, training seminars have been initiated that are intended to assist women’s entrepreneurship in rural areas by reviving traditional craft schools among residents of the Muinak and Takhtakupyr districts of Karakalpakstan.
The purpose of the training seminars is development of professional skills in rural women in the use of improvised materials for the manufacture of dolls, souvenirs and decor elements, taking into account the best traditions of the region. About 30 rural women, primary school teachers and teachers of labor from local schools, teachers of children’s preschool institutions of the villages were invited to participate.
The main advantages of the master class are the unique combination of individual work, the creation of classical products with the use of modern design vision, the possibility of wide application of creative potential, both at the stage of determining the sketches, and when manufacturing finished products. After all, as expected, practical classes, during which it is planned to make different types of souvenirs, as well as training in "papier mache" technology, will enable to consolidate theoretical knowledge in practice. In addition, the master class is designed to promote the development of women’s entrepreneurship. During the sessions, the participants will be given recommendations on running their own business, selling finished products, attracting potential customers and searching for sales channels.
The training event was organized in close cooperation with the Women’s Committee of the Republic of Karakalpakstan within the framework of the implementation of the UN Joint Program "Strengthening the Resilience Potential of the Population Affected by the Aral Sea Crisis through the Establishment of a Multiparty Human Security Fund for Aral Sea Basin Region."
