Uzbek mobile operators serve 12.057m clients

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of mobile subscribers in Uzbekistan made up 12.057 million as of 1 December 2008, the State Commission on Radio Frequencies of Uzbekistan under the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information said on Monday, 22 December.
In line with the data of the commission, number of mobile users rose 3.9% or 462,498 subscribers in November.
The growth rate of subscribers’ base comprised 48.83% compared to the beginning of 2008, when over 5.88 million people used services of mobile operators.
Currently, five mobile operators work in Uzbekistan, including MTS-Uzbekistan (Unzdunrobota, GSM standard), Beeline (Unitel, GSM standard), Ucell (Coscom, GSM standard), Perfectum Mobile (Rubicon Wireless Communication, CDMA standard) and Uzbektelecom Mobile (CDMA standard).
MTS-Uzbekistan has the largest subscriber base, which accounts 5.49 million users as of 1 December 2008. Ucell said on 9 December that it has over 2.5 million users. No official data on subscribers of other operators is available.
