Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Chelyabinsk region led by Governor Boris Dubrovsky is paying working in Uzbekistan. The Days of Chelyabinsk Region will be held all week in Uzbekistan.
On the first day of the visit, Governor Boris Dubrovsky held a meeting with Khokim of Samarkand region Turabjon Juraev.
"Our task is to find new points of cooperation for the further development of economic cooperation between Chelyabinsk and Samarkand regions," Boris Dubrovsky said in a welcome speech. "We have many common operating points for cooperation, economies of our regions are mutually complementary, and this determines a wide range of directions for long-term cooperation. I also hope that our cooperation will develop within the framework of the forum of heads of regions of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Together with me, the branch leaders of our region came - they will have a rich communication with their Uzbek counterparts. I am confident that it will be fruitful, as well as the development of relations between our regions. "
Representatives of Samarkand region expressed their interest in the South Ural agricultural machinery industry, in supply of rolled metal and agricultural products.
The parties also agreed to discuss the issue of creating trading houses: in Samarkand - for the supply of metal products, in Chelyabinsk - for export of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan.
Khokim of Samarkand region Turabjon Juraev made a proposal to find investors for construction of a cement plant in Uzbekistan. This issue will be discussed separately.
The meeting also considered the issue of participation of the Samarkand side in the forum of the governors of the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Chelyabinsk will host summits of the SCO and BRICS in 2020.
Boris Dubrovsky invited representatives of Samarkand region to pay a return visit to the South Urals.
Governor Boris Dubrovsky visited a number of significant historical and cultural sights of ancient Samarkand and laid flowers at the burial site of the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov.
Discussion of the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation between the Chelyabinsk region and Uzbekistan was held with the profile heads of departments.
