Vulnerable families to receive social support

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A presentation of the project “Strengthening of social protection of vulnerable families and children in Uzbekistan”, implemented by the SOS Association, Children’s villages of Uzbekistan and financed by the EU, was held in Tashkent.
The project is aimed at strengthening the institution of the family, which will help to reduce the number of children in orphanages.
The project will cover 10 mahallas in Tashkent city, Samarkand and Khorem regions or 5,000 vulnerable families and about 15,000 children.
State and non-state organizations, local governments in protecting and promoting the interests of families and children by providing social support on the basis of mahallas will be united within the project.
The event was attended by representatives of national and international organizations, as well as civil society institutions and local self-government bodies that carry out their activities in the area of improving the well-being of children and social protection of the population.
The participants exchanged views on the work with vulnerable families by the Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Public Education, the Mahalla Foundation and the Republican Center for Social Adaptation of Children.
The parties also developed recommendations on approaches to work aimed at strengthening the interaction between organizations that carry out their activities in the area of supporting children and families within the project.
