Ministers of Defense of Uzbekistan and Belarus discuss cooperation issues

On 27 March, a military delegation of Belarus headed by the Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Andrei Ravkov paid an official visit to Uzbekistan.
On 28 March, the Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan, Major-General Abdusalom Azizov, held talks with the military delegation of the Republic of Belarus.
According to the press service of the Uzbek Defense Ministry, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of development of Uzbek-Belarusian cooperation in defense, an exchange of views on strengthening mutually beneficial ties in the military-technical direction was held.
The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus noted the dynamic growth of cooperation in the military sphere between the two states. It was also said that over the past historical period it was possible to achieve significant results in development of comprehensive and multifaceted interstate relations, including in the field of defense.
In a short period of time, much work was done to expand the legal framework for military cooperation - a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Academy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Military Academy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus (July 20, 2017, Minsk), signed and currently The Plan of military cooperation between the defense departments of the two countries for 2018 is being implemented.
Practical arrangements have been made to organize the training of the teaching staff of the military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus and the Military Technical Institute of the National Guard of Uzbekistan at specialized courses of professional development organized in 2018 at the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus.
During the conversation, the Belarusian side invited the servicemen of Uzbekistan to take part in the annual competition for the right to confer a badge "Valor and Excellence", which is held in the Republic of Belarus among special purpose units.
At the end of the meeting, the sides signed an agreement between the defense ministries of Uzbekistan and Belarus on cooperation in the military field.
After the meeting, the guests visited the Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, where they got acquainted with the task and activities of the higher military educational institution, as well as the latest approaches in the training of military cadres of command and staff.
On the same day, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus held a meeting with the Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Viktor Makhmudov.
Later, the military delegation of Belarus laid flowers to the Monument of the Sorrowful Mother and got acquainted with the expositions of a number of museums in Tashkent.
On 29 March, the members of the military delegation of the Republic of Belarus will get acquainted with the historical and cultural sights of Samarkand and Bukhara.
