Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Teachers of the specialized school for advanced study of information and communication technologies named after Muhammad al-Khorazmiy and Inha University in Tashkent got acquainted with the best practices of Finland in the field of education.
A webinar with the representatives of the Center C.O.N.E. (Center of New Education) Tatyana Dolganenko and Kamilla Sultanova was held at Inha University in Tashkent.
The purpose of C.O.N.E. is to contribute to changing the education system in the world by disseminating best practices in this field, in particular through the study and possible implementation of Finland’s educational innovations.
It is worth to note that Finland was ranked 3rd out of 149 countries in the global ranking “The Legatum Prosperity Index 2017” in the category “Education”.
Tatyana Dolganenko and Kamilla Sultanova talked about the education system in Finland, the main purpose of which is to provide equal opportunities to all citizens.
In Finland, education is free of charge at all levels – from pre-school education up to higher education. In addition, one of the basic principles of education in Finland is that high-quality education and training should equally be accessible to all people. All citizens should have the same educational opportunity, regardless of ethnic origin, age, property status or place of residence.
Representatives of C.O.N.E. said that teachers in Finland should treat their pupils equally. In this case, one student does not have the right to know the marks of another student. In Finland, there is an electronic evaluation system, through which the student’s parents can monitor the progress of their child.
The system of education is based on such principles as individual approach, trust, voluntariness and independence.
It was stated that the country pays great attention to strengthening the prestige of the teaching profession. In Finland, teachers support children to develop their special skills and interests.
During the webinar, teachers from Uzbekistan also received information about introduction of new technologies and innovative solutions in the education sector. In particular, Tatyana Dolganenko and Kamilla Sultanova shared information about such a tool as Kahoot, which allows to create quizzes or discussions.
The teacher of mathematics Maria Glazyrina said: "The teacher showed great interest in revealing the potential of the students, their vocation, because it’s not a secret to anyone that the main motivation for teaching is to realize the applicability of the knowledge gained in the future adult life, and for this it is important to understand, who you are and what function you perform in this world. Therefore, I wanted to learn more about the methods that Finnish teachers use to help the child find / understand the way that he should move, in order to realize his abilities to the maximum.”
“It was interesting to learn about the forms of integrated lessons in the Finnish school, deepening of interdisciplinary connections, methods that make it possible to approximate knowledge received in school to real life, strengthening of the practical component of the studied subjects, forms of independent work of students. All these issues are to some extent raised in the current reform of the education system of Uzbekistan,” she added.
