Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) laid 29.6 km of the railway line between Urgench and Khiva, the press service of the company said.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in January 2017 set the task of developing the tourist potential of Khorezm region, noted the need to build a railway line from Urgench to Khiva and build a modern station in the city of Khiva, establish the movement of electric trains, and in the future the movement of the Afrosiyob high-speed train.
The cost of the project is estimated at US$35.9 million. Today, 29.6 km of railway linen has been laid.
The company is using advanced technologies in construction of railway, considering the fact that modern electric trains, including high-speed trains, will be used here.
The project was developed by the specialists of Bostransloyiha and according to its experts new railway line should be put into operation this year.
The modern station is constructed in Khiva city, which will be able to serve 200 passengers.
The architecture of the building will combine national ornament and samples of Khiva architecture, it will be in harmony with the historical complex.
The station will be equipped with modern equipment, have a VIP room, a mother and child room, a medical office. A modern musical fountain will be built near the station.
It is planned to introduce Internet services of high speed through Wi-Fi technology. Currently, construction and installation work is under way here.
