Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 November 2017, the Russian company LUKOIL commissioned the first line of the Kandym Gas Processing Plant (GPP).
The first line of the plant was put into operation five months ahead of the schedule.
The capacities of the first line of the Kandym Gas Processing Plant are designed for processing 4.05 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
The company also completed work on construction of shift camp, pre-factory zone, a system of highways, external power supply and water supply facilities, a collection system and an export gas pipeline.
At the moment, work is underway on construction of the second stage of the gas processing plant, completion of which is planned for July 2018.
The complex with a capacity of 8.1 billion cubic meters of gas a year will allow to process hydrogen sulfide-containing natural gas from the Kandym group of fields to produce 7.9 billion cubic meters of purified natural gas, 134,400 tonnes of stable gas condensate, and 212,900 tonnes of lump and granulated sulfur.
LUKOIL has been implementing the Kandym project since 2004 jointly with the Uzbekneftegaz under the Kandym-Khauzak-Shady-Kungrad PSA. The Kandym group includes six gas condensate fields - Kandym, Kuvachi-Alat, Akkum, Parsankul, Khodzhi and Western Khodzhi.
In February 2015, LUKOIL and a consortium of contractors led by Hyundai Engineering from South Korea signed a contract for supply of equipment and construction of the Kandym Gas Processing Plant worth US$2.66 billion.
In April 2016, LUKOIL started construction of Kandym Gas Processing Plant, which will process 8.1 billion cubic meters of gas a year. It is expected that the first phase of the project will commission in 2018. The first phase is valued at US$3.3 billion.
In November 2007, the company commissioned the Khauzak-Shady field with a production capacity of 3.4 billion cubic meters of gas a year, in May 2015 – the Kuvachi-Alat and Severnoye Shady field with a production capacity of 2.1 billion cubic meters of gas a year, in July 2017 - the field of Gissar Group with a production capacity of 5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
In 2018, from all fields within the framework of the PSA, the company plans to produce 14.7 billion cubic meters of gas. Russia’s LUKOIL produced 45 billion cubic meters of natural gas at its projects in Uzbekistan.
