Uzbekiston Temir Yollari builds railway line from Urgench to Khiva

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) is implementing a project on construction of railway line from Urgench to Khiva and a modern station in Khiva city.
Within the framework of the project, it is planned to launch a movement of electric trains. In future, the company launches movement of Afrosiyob high-speed trains on this route.
The project envisages construction of 31.7 km of railways. In Khiva, the modern station will meet passengers. The station can simultaneously serve up to 200 passengers.
Specialists of Bostranloyaicha designed location of the station as close as to Khiva for convenience of tourists.
The architecture of the building will combine national ornament and samples of Khiva architecture. It will be in harmony with the historical complex. Currently, construction and installation work is under way here.
Currently, the company completed 743,000 cubic meters of land works and 93 artificial structures were constructed, as well as one overpass was built. Over 200 specialists and builders work at construction sites, about 100 units of construction equipment are used.
The launch of the railway line will not only help to increase the flow of tourists to such cities as Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, but will also increase potential for passenger and freight traffic in the region.
