Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 October, an opening ceremony of the international pilot automobile rally on the route “Tashkent - Andijan (Uzbekistan) - Osh - Irkeshtam (Kyrgyzstan) - Kashgar (China)” was held.
During the event, the heads of delegations of Uzbekistan, China and the Kyrgyz Republic made a solemn speech, noting the importance of the launched corridor in terms of diversification of foreign trade routes and a significant reduction in the delivery of goods in Central Asia.
Nine cargo vehicles of three countries take part in the pilot rally. The total mileage along the route of the caravan will be about 900 km, of which 260 km across the territory of Kyrgyzstan (Osh - Irkeshtam), 250 km along the territory of the Xinjiang-Uyghur Autonomous Region (China).
Under favorable climatic conditions and the absence of possible queues at border crossings, transit time en route along the entire route will take about 2 days with an average speed of 50-60 km / h.
The road passing through the urban settlement of Sary-Tash and the Irkeshtam pass in Kyrgyzstan (at an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level) is the shortest automobile route from the Ferghana Valley to China.
Currently, transportation between Uzbekistan and China is carried out mainly by rail through Kazakhstani-Chinese checkpoints, which entails significant costs and time.
It should be noted that the opening of this corridor is a practical result of the intergovernmental agreement on international road transport signed during the State visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to China on 11-13 May 2017.
