Uzbek-Russian business forum takes place in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An Uzbek-Russian business forum was held in Tashkent. The Russian delegation led by the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov took part in the forum.
During the forum, the participants discussed expansion of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia.
It was noted that following the results of the first half of 2017, Russia returned to the first place among foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan. The trade turnover between the countries increased by 20%.
Participants underlined that in order for this trend to become a sustainable vector, it is necessary to transform existing agreements on paper into new mutually beneficial projects.
Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov proposed to diversify the trade turnover between the two countries.
"Now more than 90% of these volumes are non-raw products, and we believe that we need to develop cooperation in the high-tech sectors," he said.
He also proposed to expand the supplied nomenclature in such a way that there was no conflict of interests with Uzbek producers.
The head of the Russian delegation also suggested to cooperate within the framework of major infrastructure and industry reforms in the industrial sector of Uzbekistan.
He also proposed the creation of new production facilities in Russia and Uzbekistan. He said that automotive, machine-tool construction, and agriculture machinery are key areas in such cooperation.
