New rates of import duties and excise tax for certain goods set

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures to further ordering Uzbekistan’s foreign economic activity” on 29 September.
According to the document, Uzbek President set new rates of import customs duties and excise tax on excisable goods, imported to the country from 1 October 2017.
The document is aimed at creating favorable conditions for domestic producers to import the necessary equipment and components to it, raw materials and materials, stimulating production of high-quality finished products, competitive in the domestic and foreign markets, satisfying the consumer demand of the population and preventing prices from rising on the domestic market.
According to the document, new rates of import customs duties will be established for 97 product groups and excise tax - more than 34 groups of goods.
The President of Uzbekistan abolished import duty on oil and oil products, large and small cattle, meat of large and small cattle, fish products, milk, potatoes, cereals, flour and other goods.
