Uzbekistan realizes projects in food industry for US$740.1m

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to realize 434 projects with total cost of US$740.1 million in food industry, the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan said.
The Uzbek Ministry said that Uzbekistan is planning to realize 163 investment projects on creating new production capacities on processing fruits and vegetables in specialized districts.
Some 39 investment projects on processing meat and milk products and 159 projects on construction of warehouse and cold cameras will be also realized in the country.
About 37 projects on creation of enterprises on production of packing materials and 37 other investment projects will be implemented as well.
Uzbekistan also plans to realize the projects on modernization and development of agriculture. The country plans to cut fields for production of cotton by 49,000 hectares and wheat by 10,000 hectares.
The fields will be allocated to production of potatoes (8,100 hectares), vegetables (27,200 hectares), intensive gardens (5,900 hectares), vineyards (2,900 hectares), forage crops (10,900 hectares) and oil cultures (4,000 hectares).
It is planned to create 14 logistics centers for storage, sorting, processing and packaging exported fruits and vegetables with the total capacity of 310,000 tonnes.
Uzbekistan also plans to attract over US$650 million of soft loans to develop small and private businesses, export infrastructure, storage of agriculture products and logistics sphere from commercial banks and international financial institutions such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and JICA.
