Gazprom plans to extend contract on purchase of gas from Uzbekistan – report

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s Gazprom is planning to extend a contract on purchase of gas from Uzbekistan, the media outlet Life (Russia) reported.
According to the outlet, the contract can be signed within the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russia.
Shavkat Mirziyoev plans to visit Russia in March-April 2017, spokesman of the Russian Preident Dmitry Peskov said recently.
Life reported that Uzbekistan and Russia will sign several agreements in the field of tourism, healthcare, education, medicine, chemistry, military-technical cooperation, migration policy and energy within the visit of the Uzbek President.
One of the central themes of the negotiations will be agreements in energy sector, in particular the extension of the contract on purchase of gas from Uzbekistan, the media outlet said.
A source in Gazprom told Life that the new gas supply contract will be concluded at least up to 2022. The source added that the two sides are negotiating the gas supply volumes.
