President: Uzbekistan’s GDP growth exceeds 8% in 2015

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The growth of gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan exceeded 8% as in previous 10 years, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said in his New Year congratulation to people of Uzbekistan.
Uzbek leader said that real income of population rose by 9.6% and the size of salaries, pensions, stipends and allowances – 21.9%.
President Islam Karimov said that this is evidence that Uzbekistan selected correct way of development, which is based on cardinal reforms, democratization of the society, structural reforms, diversification and modernization of economy and achievement of our main goal – join to the developed democratic states of the world.
Uzbek head expressed gratitude to all workers of industry, construction, transport and communication and small businesses for their contribution to development of the country.
Islam Karimov said that due to hard work of the farmers, Uzbekistan produced 7.5 million tonnes of grain, 3.35 million tonnes of cotton, about 14.5 million of vegetables and melons, 4.3 million fruits, which is great contribution to saturation and stable prices in the markets.
Plans for 2016
Speaking about plans for 2016, Uzbek President said that despite difficulties and crisis in the world, Uzbekistan plans to record 7.8% GDP growth in 2016, real income per capital will increase by 9.5%, salaries, pensions, stipends and allowances due to all resources – 15%.
Uzbek leader mentioned that about 59.1% of all expenses of the state budget will be directed to social sphere, including science, education, healthcare, culture, sport and social welfare.
President Islam Karimov noted that some US$17.31 billion will be invested into economy of Uzbekistan, of which 23.5% of them will be foreign investments. This shows that confidence of foreign capitals to Uzbekistan is growing, he added.
Uzbek head said that Uzbekistan is planning to complete construction and launch 164 large production capacities for total sum of US$5.5 billion.
In particular, Uzbek leader recalled construction of two combined cycle power plant at Talimarjan power station, energy block with the capacity of 150 megawatts at Angren thermal power station, furnace with the capacity of 70,000 tonnes of copper at Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine.
Islam Karimov noted that Uzbekistan completes construction of railway tunnel at Qamchiq pass in cooperation with the Chinese partners, which will link Ferghana Valley with other parts of Uzbekistan. In 2016, Uzbekistan will extend high speed railway Tashkent-Samarkand till Bukhara.
GM Uzbekistan will start production of automobiles based on T-250 model (Chevrolet Aveo), while Mubarek Gas Processing Plant will commission capacities for production of 80,000 tonnes of granulated brimstone, Uzbek President said.
Uzbekistan also plans to launch production of tractors, mobile phones of new modification, tablets and notebooks, TV-sets and refrigerators, air-conditioners and other home appliances, as well as pharmaceutical products, President Karimov added.
Uzbek President underlined Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways) will receive two Boeing-787 (Dreamliner) airplanes, which will be an important step in development of the civil aviation of the country.
