Samarkand region’s GRP grows by 10.5% in 2014

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Growth of gross regional product (GRP) of Samarkand region made up 10.5% in 2014, the session of the local council dedicated to 2014 said.
The region’s agriculture output increased by 7%, construction works – 11%, retail trade – 15%, paid services to population – 22% and paid services – 18%.
Investments for 1.139 trillion soums were used to modernize and re-equip industries and enterprises, which helped to achieve 15.7% growth of industry.
The volume of production of consumer goods per capita made up 815,000 soums, which rose by 5.5 times in last five years.
The region commissioned 1,122 trade and service points. Share of services in gross regional product made up 45%.
The volume of exports of the region made up US$152.7 million in 2014, which is 5.5% higher compared to the planned volume.
The banks allocated loans for 713 billion soums to small businesses. About 1,919 new small businesses were created in 2014 and their total number exceeded 15,000 units.
