Nurdinjon Ismailov heads Legislative Chamber

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Nurdinjon Ismailov was elected as a speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan at the first session of lower house of parliament of new convocation, which was held on 12 January 2015.
Prior to election to new post, Nurdinjon Ismailov worked as state advisor of the President of Uzbekistan.
During the session, MPs also elected five vice-speakers, who represent factions of four political parties and MPs Group of Ecologic Movement of Uzbekistan.
Sodiqjon Turdiev became head of the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, Sarvar Otamuratov – Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Milliy Tiklanish, Hotamjon Ketmonov – People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and Narimon Umarov – Social-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Adolat”. Boriy Alikhanov headed MPs Group of Ecologic Movement of Uzbekistan. They were elected as deputy speakers of the chamber.
At the first session, MPs approved list of parliamentary committees and decision on chairpersons of the committees.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov participated in the first session of the Legislative Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
As reported earlier, UzLiDeP won 52 seats in the result of parliamentary elections, Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Milliy Tiklanish – 36, People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan – 27, Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Adolat – 20 seats. Ecologic Movement of Uzbekistan elected 15 MPs at its conference.
