Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Border guards of Uzbekistan prevented illegal movement of large volume of goods at Uzbek-Kyrgyz border, the press service of the Committee on protection of the state borders of the National Security Service of Uzbekistan said.
The committee said that the Uzbek borders prevented illegal movement of large volume of good at Yapagi-Vuadil automobile road in Ferghana district and citizens of Kyrgyzstan in two Hyundai Porter automobiles were detained on 10 November 2014.
At detention of 20 people, who violated state borders, citizen of Kyrgyzstan A. Muyiddinov, 28, tried to harm Uzbek border guards with the car. In the result of use of weapon, he was wounded.
The border service said that over 4 tonnes of meat products were found in detained cars. The investigation is underway on the case and criminal case was opened.
The Committee on protection of the state borders said that despite agreement with Kyrgyz side on stopping vehicles and citizens of Kyrgyzstan at this part of the road, Kyrgyz citizens systematically violating agreement to smuggle various materials, which leads to negative consequences and harms friendly relations between border services of two states.
The Uzbek side called Kyrgyz colleagues to strictly adhere to agreements and conduct explanation and preventive measures among citizens of border areas to prevent violation of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border.
