Uzbekistan to electrify part of railway Marakand-Bukhara

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Temir Yollari is planning to electrify part of railway between Marakand and Bukhara.
The project envisages electrification of about 232 km of railroad between Marakand and Bukhara. After reconstruction, high speed trains can run on the railway.
Within the project, it is planned to carry out works such as power supply and substations, on improving signaling, modern information and communications technology (ICT) and control systems, maintenance and repair facilities for electric locomotives, and related constructions.
The project cost is US$672 million. Uzbekistan Temir Yollari is planning to attract loan of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for US$148 million. The ADB can adopt decision on attraction of the loan in the middle of 2015. The figures are preliminary and can change.
