Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent Pipe Plant JV LLC, a enterprise partially owned by Russia’s Almetyevsk Pipe Plant, launched metal-rolling projects for about US$40 million, RIA Novosti reported quoting source in the joint venture.
Tashkent Pipe Plant has commissioned a metal-rolling complex with total cost of US$30 million. At the initial stage, the enterprise will be able to produce 55,000 tonnes of hot-rolled steel bars. By 2016, the company will be able to produce 130,000 tonnes of steel bars and rods of various sizes in diameter from 6 to 45 mm.
At the same time, the venture expanded production capacities, investing some US$10 million. The company started to produce longitudinal welded pipes 89-219 mm and 270-700 mm profile pipes with a total capacity of 55,000 tonnes a year, as well as steel pipes with a polyolefin coating capacity of 8,000 tonnes per year.
The plant launched production of spiral welded oil and gas pipes of the API-Sp.5L standard with the 1220-1620 millimeters diameter. The capacity of the line makes up 16,000 tonnes a year.
Tashkent Pipe Plant was commissioned in 1999 and currently it is the largest company on production of pipes in Uzbekistan. The founders of the joint venture were Almetyevsk Pipe Plant (Russia), Capital Industrial Supply (USA) and division and association Uzmontazhspetsstroy.
The company produces steel thin-walled water- gas pipes (designed capacity of 26,000 tonnes), steel pipes for main oil and gas pipelines with diameter of 159-377 mm (6000 tonnes) , as well as profiled sheets and wavy slate of galvanized steel and pipe bends .
