President: Uzbekistan to launch 150 large objects in 2014

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan on 17 January that 2014 will become year of launch of important high technological and modern objects, as well as capacities at industry, growth and improvement of investment process.
He said that total volume of capital investments due to all source will make up US$14.3 billion, which will grow by 10.1% year-on-year. The share of fixed capital investments in GDP will be at the level of 2013 – 23%.
He said that over 73% of all investments will be directed to construction of production capacities and 40% - to purchase of new equipment.
He said that it is planned to use over US$3.9 billion of foreign investments and loans, which will grow by 29% year-on-year. He added that about 69% of foreign investments will be direct investments, which will rise by 22.4% year-on-year.
Uzbek President noted that 150 large production objects with total cost of US$4.4 billion will be launched this year.
It is planned to complete project on expansion of the capacities of Dehkanabad potash ash plant from 200,000 tonnes to 600,000 tonnes a year, project on organization of production of Damad cars in Khorezm region, project on production of 760,000 tonnes of Portland cement or 350,000 tonnes of white cement in Jizzakh region, project on construction of the third line of the gas pipeline Uzbekistan-China, etc.
President underlined that projects on construction of the Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex on the base of Surgil field and production of synthetic liquid fuel from cleaned methane of Shortan Gas Chemical Complex will be continued.
In power sector, it is planned to expand Talimarjan thermal power station with construction of two combined-cycle facilities with the capacity of 450 megawatts each, construction of combined-cycle facility with the capacity of 370 megawatt at Tashkent thermal power station, expansion of Navoi thermal power station with construction of two combined-cycle facilities with the capacity of 450 megawatts each will be implemented.
In chemical industry, Uzbekistan plans to launch the second line of Kungrad Soda Plant and capacities on production of methanol, ammonia and carbamide at Navoiazot and other objects.
