New draft law approbation takes place in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan carries out approbation of a draft law “On the transparency of the activities of state bodies and administrations”. The first results of the experiment were discussed at video-conference between Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara.
The Committee of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on information and communication technologies organized the video conference, which was attended by MPs, members of the commission on holding legal experiment, local experts, local administrations of Samarkand and Bukhara regions, etc.
The participants discussed role and importance of the experiment for local practice. The draft law “On the transparency of the activities of state bodies and administrations” determined procedures on informing public on activities of the state bodies and administrations. It envisages to provide wide access of population to information on the decisions of the government related to freedoms, interests and right of population. The legal experiment will help to find out implementation of the draft law in practice.
In line with the legal test, state bodies and administrations of Bukhara and Samarkand region will work in new regime in line with the draft law from May to November 2013. In particular, all applications should be revised by the state bodies within 15 days and requests of mass media should be processed within seven days.
It was noted that over 120 meetings with the citizens were organized to explain opportunities of the draft law for legal entities and individuals. Employees of the state bodies were informed about new rules of their work in line with the draft law.
According to the member of working commissions, knowledge of the population on activities of the state bodies and written application of the citizens to the state bodies increased. In line with the statistics, number of applications rose twice to 1,514 in Samarkand region and 1,230 in Bukhara regions.
The website of the project “Legal Experiment” has been launched at the address legalexperiment.uz, which will regularly inform public on course of implementation of the draft law in the regions.
The video conference also discussed activities of mass media and information services of the state bodies.
