Project “Skills for new generation” takes place in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- British Council in Uzbekistan at the support of Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan, Center for secondary special and professional education, Center for assistance in employment under the Center for Youth Initiatives Kelajak Ovozi is holding a project “Skills for new generation” on 8-20 June 2013.
The purpose of the project is to contribute to national reforms in education sector and improve studying of English language in Uzbekistan, as well as improve language skills of students and trainers. The project includes several interesting events.
In particular, the project includes seminar-training for a working group “New education programme for future English language teachers”, which is taking place from 8 to 14 June. It is aimed at training trainers on teaching English on new programme. The seminar-training is a preparation stage for upcoming event for teachers, scheduled for July-August 2013.
It is also planned to hold a seminar-training with developers of the course “English for tourism”, which will be held on 13-18 June. During the event, the participants will consider teaching English and tourism in Uzbekistan. It will be attended by teachers of colleges and tourism experts.
On 18-19 June, it is planned to organize a seminar-training for members of working group “Improvement of educational plans and programmes for tourism”. International consultant Katherine Tetley will hold seminars for the members of the working group. The group is working on developing educational programmes and curriculum for tourism colleges.
One of the main events within the project will be a roundtable “Skills for tourism sector”, which will be held on 18 June. The roundtable will allow to study experience of Ukraine in studying tourism and education in tourism sector. It will also help to assess national professional standards in the area.
An international conference “English for primary schools” will be held in Tashkent on 19-20 June 2013. It will be attended by international experts, education ministries of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, etc. The participants will exchange opinion on introduction of English language to education process in primary schools.
