Uzbekneftegaz, Alcatel-Lucent resume talks on SCADA project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekneftegaz national holding company resumed negotiations with China’s Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell Co on introduction of system on management and technologic communication at gas transportation network (SCADA), RIA Novosti reported quoting source in the Uzbek government.
The source said that Uzbekneftegaz created a working group, which entrusted to develop constructive proposals to settle disputable issues with the Chinese company.
In June 2010, Uztransgaz and Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell Co. signed agreement on designing and supply of equipment for SCADA introduction at gas distribution networks with extension of 2,000 km. The construct sum was US$77.5 million. Initially it was planned to complete project by the end of 2012.
In May 2012, Uzbekneftegaz said that the project was suspended due to technical dispute, but did not disclose reasons.
The project with the cost of US$81 million was financed due to loan of Chinese Eximbank for US$73.6 million and own resources of Uztransgaz – US$7.4 million.
