Checkpoint Dustlik resumes work around the clock
Vice-Premier of Kyrgyzstan Duishenbek Zilaliev said: “The resumption of the work of the checkpoint Dostuk on a 24-hour basis is a landmark event in the history of the Kyrgyz and Uzbek peoples.”
“This event will serve as a powerful stimulus for development of multi-vector cooperation between the two countries,” he said.
From 2010 until now, the Dustlik checkpoint worked in a time-limited regime, moreover, for the crossing of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border, it was required to provide a number of documents, such as an invitation or a telephone message.
Now, citizens of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will be able to cross the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border in a simplified manner, without presenting additional documents.
The decision to open the border was the result of talks within the framework of the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Bishkek on 5-6 September, Zilaliyev said.
