Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Foreign Minister Furkat Sidikov held online talks with the Australian Ambassador to Uzbekistan (with residence in Moscow) Greim Meehan, who took up his duties after presenting his credentials on 21 December 2020.
The parties noted that this year our countries will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Over the past period, the parties have effectively strengthened bilateral cooperation, including within the framework of the UN and other multilateral formats, Dunyo news agency reported.
Currently, Uzbekistan and Australia are successfully developing relations in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other areas of mutual interest.
The parties stated that the similarity or similarity of positions on security issues and other topical issues of the global agenda, the existing significant potential for expanding business cooperation, exchanges in the fields of science, education, tourism open up new opportunities for expanding the space of interaction. In this context, the proposals on the creation of new cooperation mechanisms, such as online meetings of representatives of business circles of the two countries, travel companies, heads of universities, were received with understanding.
Following the talks, the parties agreed on the need to intensify partnership in all areas to bring the Uzbek-Australian dialogue to a new level by filling it with concrete content.
