Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The resident population of the Republic of Uzbekistan as of 1 October 2020 is 34.38 million people and, since this year, it has increased by 477,500 people, or 1.4%, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
In particular, the urban population reached 17.4 million people (50.6% of the total population), rural – 16.98 million people (49.4%).
The analysis showed that in the context of the regions of the republic as of 1 October 2020, the largest population is observed in Samarkand - 11.4% (share in the total population of the republic), Ferghana - 11.1%, Kashkadarya - 9.7% and Andijan - 9.2% regions.
According to preliminary data, as of 1 October 2020, 30.9% of the total resident population in the republic are under the working age, 58.4% are of working age and 10.7% are older than working age.
In January - September 2020, 614,700 children were registered (hereinafter, live births are meant as births), respectively, the birth rate per 1000 population was 24.0 ppm and, compared to the same period in 2019, increased by 0.5 ppm (for January - September 2019 - 23.5 ppm).
In January - September 2020, a relatively high marriage rate in the regions of the republic was noted in Syrdarya (9.1 ppm), Jizzakh (8.4 ppm), Kashkadarya (7.9 ppm) and Navoi (7.8 ppm) regions.
In January - September 2020, relatively low marriage rates developed in certain regions, for example, such as the Republic of Karakalpakstan (5.1 ppm), Khorezm (5.9 ppm), Bukhara (6.4 ppm) and Samarkand (6.8 ppm) regions.
In the regions of the republic in January - September 2020, the highest divorce rate was observed in the city of Tashkent (1.4 ppm), Syrdarya (1.3 ppm), Andijan (1.0 ppm), Navoi and Tashkent (0.9 ppm) regions.
At the same time, in January - September 2020, a relatively low divorce rate was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (0.5 ppm), Kashkadarya (0.5 ppm), Khorezm (0.5 ppm) and Surkhandarya (0.6 ppm) regions.
According to preliminary data, in January - September 2020, 49.8% of the total number of divorces in the republic were couples without children, 29.6% - with one child and 20.6% - with two or more children.
In January - September 2020, the number of arrivals amounted to 137.3 thousand people, and those who left - 139.7 thousand people. The migration balance is minus 2.4 thousand people, in the same period of 2019 - minus 8.5 thousand people.
The migration balance in Kashkadarya region amounted to minus 17.1 thousand people, Samarkand - minus 9.2, Surkhandarya - minus 7.1, Bukhara - minus 6.5 thousand people, which indicates a significant excess of population outflow over arrival. A positive balance of migration was noted in the city of Tashkent (plus 59.7).
The largest share of arrivals from abroad in the Republic of Uzbekistan (in% of their total number) falls on arrivals from Kazakhstan (33.8%), Tajikistan (22.0%), the Russian Federation (21.9%) and Kyrgyzstan (8.3%), the smallest - from Turkmenistan (1.8%) and other countries (12.2%).
The largest share of those who left the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad (in % of their total number) falls on those who left for Kazakhstan (61.9%), the Russian Federation (30.5%) and Israel (1.5%), the smallest - in Kyrgyzstan (1.2%), Tajikistan (0.6%) and other countries (4.3%).
