Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Today, like the entire world community, Afghanistan is fighting against coronavirus infection.
Uzbekistan actively supports all practical initiatives to establish peace and comprehensive sustainable development of Afghanistan. The humanitarian cargo sent today in connection with the coronavirus pandemic to this country has become yet another striking evidence of our country’s readiness to provide practical assistance and support the processes of building a peaceful life in a neighboring state.
In particular, in order to fulfill the order of the President of Uzbekistan, on 31 March, a corresponding government resolution was signed, which provided for the delivery to Afghanistan of the necessary food products, baby knitwear and medical products necessary to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Based on this document, a cargo was formed from food, clothing and medicines. The list of goods included flour, rice, vegetable oil, sugar, as well as soap, medical gauze, overalls, N95 disposable respirators and medical gloves, safety glasses, pyrometers and children’s knitwear.
Today, representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, JSC "Uzbekistan Temir Yollari" and other agencies specified cargo was sent from the Tashkent region to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
“Afghanistan is fighting the coronavirus today.” Unfortunately, the infection has not spared Uzbekistan,” said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Afghanistan to our country Ahmad Khalid Elmi. “Despite this, fraternal and neighboring Uzbekistan again supported us in this difficult period, sparing no help.” It is worth noting that targeted assistance is great in its volume and importance. The Afghan government will primarily direct it to strengthen measures to combat coronavirus. I believe that thanks to cooperation and joint efforts, our historically friendly and fraternal peoples will be able to defeat COVID-19 in the near future. I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the President and people of Uzbekistan on behalf of the fraternal people of Afghanistan.
The delegation of Uzbekistan went to Afghanistan to accompany the humanitarian aid. The cargo is planned to be delivered along the Angren-Tashkent-Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif route.
