Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the USA, Javlon Vahabov, took part in the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected head of state Tate Reeves in the capital of the Mississippi city of Jackson, Dunyo news agency reported.
The 65th head of this state, Republican T. Reeves won the election for governor on 5 November 2019. He received an economics degree from Milsap College, Mississippi. Since 2004 he has been working in the administration of the region. He also served as Minister of State Finance in 2004–2012 and First Deputy Head of State in 2012–2020.
During the visit to Jackson, our delegation also met with representatives of the office of the new head of state, outgoing governor Phil Bryant, state ministers of economy and agriculture Glen McCollough and Andy Gibson.
The office of the new head of state emphasized readiness to continue expanding partnerships with Uzbekistan in the trade, economic and investment spheres. An agreement was reached to organize the visit of the newly elected Governor T. Reeves to Uzbekistan in October this year.
The Minister of Economy and Agriculture of the State, Glen McCollough, noted that the Mississippi appreciates the achieved close partnerships with Uzbekistan and is ready to further expand cooperation in the trade sector. According to him, promising sectors for the development of relations are agriculture, automotive, pharmaceuticals, energy, tourism, construction and infrastructure development.
Former Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant remembered with particular warmth about his trip to Uzbekistan last May.
“It was an honor for me to become the first American governor to visit Uzbekistan since the republic gained its independence. New Uzbekistan is a rapidly developing reformer country that defines the agenda of the entire region and serves as a worthy example for many in the world, ”F. Bryant emphasized.
During the stay of the American politician, agreements were reached in the fields of agriculture, education, investment and intercultural exchange, agreements were signed on establishing twinning relations between the cities of Zarafshan and Clinton, memoranda of academic cooperation between the Tashkent State Agrarian University and the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Mechanization Engineers Agriculture with Mississippi State University and Alcorn University.
