Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Representatives of official, business and expert circles of Japan are studying with great interest the contents of the speeches of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the first meetings of the Legislative Chamber and Senate of the Oliy Majlis, a joint meeting of both chambers of the country’s parliament, Dunyo reported.
Tetsuji Tanaka, Director General of the Central Asian and Caucasus Research Institute for the Study of Central Asia and the Caucasus, noted that it is deeply symbolic that the date of the speech of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the meetings of the Oliy Majlis and the speech of the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe coincided in time. He said that as an international observer he had the opportunity to observe the parliamentary elections held in Uzbekistan in accordance with international democratic principles.
Having familiarized with the main points of the speeches of the head of Uzbekistan, the expert called them timely and important. He praised the desire of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to further democratize society and accelerate the implementation of reforms in various areas of socio-political and socio-economic life of the country.
Tanaka expressed satisfaction with the fact that 48 women were elected to the new parliament, which clearly demonstrates the observance by the Uzbek side of the principle of gender equality. He wished the deputies of both houses of the Oliy Majlis successful work and expressed the hope that they would actively contribute to the further development and prosperity of Uzbekistan.
Chairman of the Japan Organization for External Technical Assistance in Medicine (OMETA), chief executive officer of Sakura Global Holdings K. Matsumoto noted that the Japanese business community is closely following the positive changes in Uzbekistan, the interest in which is growing rapidly after the visit at the highest level to Japan in December 2019, ushering in a “new era” in bilateral relations.
Matsumoto said that he carefully examined the speeches of the President of Uzbekistan at meetings of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, which, in his opinion, determined a new course for the country’s development in the near future.
Particular attention was drawn to the improvement of the medical sphere in Uzbekistan, noted in the appeal. He expressed his readiness to contribute to the development of this industry in the country through the implementation of joint projects to create the Uzbek-Japanese medical center in Tashkent, organizing the assembly of medical equipment - incubators for newborns and steam sterilizers, the agreements on which were reached in December 2019.
Professor Masaki Ono, head of the Tsukuba University research center, noted that it was a great honor for him to visit Uzbekistan as an international observer from Japan in the December 2019 parliamentary elections.
“We have witnessed large-scale changes in the socio-political life of Uzbekistan. These positive changes were fully reflected during the parliamentary elections, which took place in the conditions of openness and activity of political parties of the republic,” he stressed.
“The speeches of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the newly elected deputies of the Legislative Chamber and members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis have historical significance,” he said. -The head of the country demonstrated a strategic vision of the growing role and tasks of parliament in the process of further reforming society and creating better living conditions for the entire people of the republic.
The chairman of the Japan-Uzbekistan Friendship Association, Nobuhiko Shima, believes that the President of Uzbekistan in his speeches in parliament, speaking about the results of the reforms implemented in 2019, outlined new tasks for deputies, senators and the government for the next five years.
“Uzbekistan, under the leadership of a new leader, has made significant progress in recent years. Of course, these achievements in improving the quality of life of the population and the country’s image are highly valued in the international community, including Japan. I am convinced that Uzbekistan will achieve even greater success in 2020,” he concluded.
