Polish entrepreneurs familiarized with business development in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A delegation of business circles of Uzbekistan, headed by the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Adham Ikramov, visited the Polish capital, where its members participated in an expanded conference on business development in Uzbekistan and held a number of meetings in ministries and departments, as well as representatives of business circles in Poland.
During the conference and meetings at the Ministry of Development, the Polish Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade, the Polish Agency for the Development of Entrepreneurship, the Polish side emphasized that in the person of Uzbekistan, Poland sees a country with significant industrial, scientific, technological, cultural and intellectual potential. The readiness to assist in the implementation of the Development Strategy of Uzbekistan through the use of various consultative mechanisms and financial instruments was noted.
Poland’s Deputy Minister of Development, Marcin Ocepa, emphasized that due to the policy of openness and good neighborliness of Uzbekistan in the Central Asian region, the level of political trust has significantly increased, many sensitive issues have been addressed, and cooperation in all areas has intensified.
The leadership of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency noted the active involvement of Poland in the development by the EU Council of an updated Strategy for Central Asian countries for the period after 2020. This step, according to the Polish side, is especially important in the context of a completely new political atmosphere in the region. The new strategy focuses on the development of sustainability, sustainability and regional cooperation of Central Asian countries.
Support was also given to Uzbekistan’s importance in further deepening trade, economic and investment cooperation with Poland. In order to drastically increase and diversify bilateral trade, as well as expand the activities of Polish investors in Uzbekistan, the parties agreed to regularize the work of the Intergovernmental Commission (IPC) on economic cooperation and organize its next meeting in the 2nd quarter of 2020 in Warsaw.
Meetings in B2B format also took place with the heads of seven Polish companies, which are currently actively preparing for the implementation of investment projects in Uzbekistan in the areas of healthcare, energy, agricultural production, textiles and other fields.
Thus, the ELQ group of companies expressed interest in investing in the creation of turnkey solar stations in Uzbekistan, as well as the construction of a plant for the production of dry and oil current transformers.
The parties also discussed the implementation of an investment project for the production of seed potatoes in Kitab region of Uzbekistan by in vitro method.
An exchange of views took place on the establishment of exports of Uzbek textile products to Poland. Following the results of the presentation, the Directorate of the Center for Wholesale of Textiles GD Poland International proposed the creation of an exhibition hall and a showroom for the demonstration and wholesale of domestic textile and clothing in Poland. According to the Polish side, this will contribute to a significant increase in the supply of products from
Uzbekistan, as Poland is the largest buyer of this type of product in Europe. Only during the Fast Textile International Textile Fair - 2019 international textile exhibition were contracts signed between Uzbek and European textile workers worth more than US$20 million.
The potential of cooperation in the field of tourism was discussed. In this regard, both parties expressed interest in opening direct flights between Tashkent and Warsaw.
On the whole, during the visit, a thorough exchange of views took place on the issues of democratization of society, the formation of socially-oriented market relations in Uzbekistan and existing problems in the sphere of Uzbek-Polish interaction in the trade and economic sphere. Fruitful meetings and negotiations strengthened the platform for further business cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries.
