Smart meters have raised electricity billability to 99%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - At the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 6 November, a working meeting was held with the South Korean company KT Corporation, which is the main partner for the implementation of the ASKUE system in the country. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Implementation of the investment project "Implementation of an automated system for accounting and control of electric energy consumption", starting with pilot projects in the Samarkand and Bukhara regions, is being phased throughout the country. Currently, the installation of modern metering devices for electricity consumption, which has been given the name “smart meters”, is underway in the capital of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, representatives of KT Corporation noted that during the implementation of the pilot project, the level of receipt of payment from consumers for the used electricity increased to 99%.
The mechanism of servicing metering devices after their installation, hiring and training additional personnel for the maintenance of the ASKUE system and metering devices was discussed together with Regional Electric Networks JSC.
Also, during the workshop, representatives of KT Corporation presented a project for the implementation of a centralized system of automated energy metering systems.
The foreign party reported that following the implementation of the first and second stages of the system implementation, the percentage of compatibility of metering devices of other manufacturers is 98%, in the near future it is planned to bring up to 100%. To date, the Korean side has delivered a test panel where they check the compliance of metering devices supplied by local manufacturers with the current system.
