Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzvtortsvetmet, together with specialists from the State Ecology Committee and the khokimiyat of Tashkent, developed a roadmap for 2019-2021 to improve the environmental situation in Sergeli district of Tashkent, the company’s press service said.
Now the document has been submitted for approval to the Cabinet of Ministers. It envisages the implementation of a range of environmental measures to reduce emissions of pollutants into the air, protect water resources, waste management, as well as other measures to reduce the negative impact of production activities of the enterprise. Its total value exceeds US$10 million.
“Within the framework of the roadmap, it is planned to install ventilation systems and treatment facilities in the lead alloy production plant for US$1.8 million at the expense of Uzvtorsvetmet’s own funds. These works will be completed by the end of 2020,” the company said.
In addition, the design and survey work on updating and modernization of treatment facilities in aluminum and copper alloy production workshops, as well as in the scrap and non-ferrous metal processing workshop, is currently nearing completion.
“The population living in Sergeli district of the capital, where the enterprise is located, has nothing to worry about. Today, Uzvtortsvetmet meets all the requirements of domestic legislation on emissions and does not pose any danger to residents. At the same time, after the completion of modernization, the enterprise can argue for the title of the most environmentally friendly an industrial facility not only in Uzbekistan, but throughout Central Asia,” the Uzvtortsvetmet press service noted.
In September 2018, in order to increase the effectiveness of the management system, the state share in the authorized capital of Uzvtorsvetmet was transferred to trust management of the foreign company SFI Management Group.
